Insulin Needles – BD Ultra Fine for Pens. For use with Lantus SoloStar pen. These are small tips with needles that work with insulin pen devices. There are 3 product lines for these pens: NANO, MINI, and SHORT. For needles, the higher the gauge of the needle, the thinner it is. The NANO is the thinnest at 32g, and has the shortest needle length (4mm = approx 0.15 inches). The MINI and SHORT are both 31g. The MINI measures 5mm, which is approximately 0.2 (or 3/16) inches, while the SHORT is 8mm, which is approximately 0.3 (5/16) inches.
